Grace was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkins Lymphoma at the age of 15. She subsequently underwent six rounds of intensive chemotherapy, followed by multiple scans, tests, and physiotherapy over the course of three years before being discharged from paediatric oncology care and transitioning to adult oncology services.
Molly Ollys were delighted that we could grant Grace her wish of having driving lessons and really pleased when she passed her test in September 2023. Following the successful end of her treatment Grace is now enjoying independence being out and about.
But Grace’s story doesn’t stop there because not only is she driving, she is also healthy enough to run a marathon and will be taking on the world-famous 26.2 miles London course in 2026!! Grace said, “Running 26.2 miles is a huge challenge, but it’s nothing compared to the journey so many cancer patients face every day. I’m running in honour of those still fighting and in gratitude for those who helped me. My goal is to raise at least £500 which is enough for a Molly Ollys wish for a young person and every donation I receive is to give back to the charity who gave me so much.”
Grace is absolutely incredible and we’re just so pleased we could support her. And you can help her fundraising efforts by visiting her London Marathon fundraising page.
And finally…the pay-back didn’t stop there as Grace’s Dad, Dan, nominated Molly Ollys to his employer, Freightliner, in the hope of receiving a charitable grant and Molly Ollys were lucky to be chosen. The family popped into our office recently to present a cheque for £1000 and learn more about our work.
